The third annual World BORDERPOL Congress will be held December 9-11 at the Kempinski Corvinus Hotel Budapest in Hungary.
The World BORDERPOL Congress is the “only multi-jurisdictional transnational platform where the border protection, management and security industry policy-makers and practitioners convene annually to discuss the international challenges faced in protecting not only one’s own country’s borders, but those of neighbours and friends.”
The conference will feature an expansive lineup of speakers, including Clarence Yeo, commissioner of Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore; Ralph Markert, assistant director of international partnerships and development for Interpol; Dr. Ahmed Alzahrani, project manager for the Ministry Of Interior, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; David Alania, chief officer and police captain of border patrol for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Georgia; and Cephas Makunike, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority.
The event’s opening keynote presentation will be delivered by Col dr Gizella Vas, head of Hungarian Border Policing Unit with the Hungarian National Police.
The conference will offer Closed Agency Only Workshops for border agencies and agencies at the borders, which will discuss document fraud, trends in trafficking drugs, people and counterfeit goods, and inter-agency cooperation and information sharing.
Meanwhile, the open workshops and breakout sessions will cover crime across borders and at the border, setting international standards in integrated border management, and whether exit controls should be reintroduced universally.
The Ministry of Interior and Hungarian National Police are both supporting and actively participating in this year’s World BORDERPOL Congress.
